The fate of the artist.
We see the artist, unconscious due to drinking Rum. The television showing a painting being sold for a large sum of money in London. He has pursed the dream, searched for paradise and found it in a Rum bottle. With dreams of the Caribbean and money, he has turned to the bottle and failed do see the beauty right outside the window of his home.
About David Westwood
I was born on the 20th February 1968 and grew up in the shadow of Birmingham, England. The second largest city in the UK. I come from a working class back-ground. I am gay and came out to my family at the age of 16 in 1984. At first my family rejected my sexuality. AIDS was hitting the headlines as, “the gay plague,” and they really did not understand why I had, “chosen,” to be gay. Eventually however, they realized it was not a choice and they did accept me. This conflict is documented in many of my artworks along with my interest in history and politics. My artwork is created to be seen and when it has been looked at it has achieved his goal.
